Sex and the City Movie - Love it or Hate it?

Anyone who’s been an avid fan of Sex and The City is surely to watch the much-awaited movie screening.
I’ve once told my friends that even for the fashion part of Sex and the City - the movie will be well- worth it. Screenshots plagued with Louis Vuitton, Prada, Vivienne Westwood - amongst others.

But really, did you guys enjoy it? I had mixed feelings with the movie. Specifically broken down here:

  • if not for the fashion, the story seemed so empty to me. No redeeming factors, whatsoever. The story between Big and Carrie always gets intercepted by some other side notes coming from the other characters.
  • Most characters have little or no dilineation from what they were back then –they’re still the same. But older.
  • I was hoping to get a glimpse of Aiden or other previous lovers — so typical of how Carrie’s role always used to bump into them in the past shows.  - In the movie, nobody showed up.
  • It’s so mushy and cheesy and lovesy dovesy. It seems like a really shallow way of portraying women today.

** All of these are just my opinions. I am still a fan of the show, however, not so much of a fan of the movie.
I would say this gets a B- to C rating. ( at least it makes you feel quite happy and sappy in the end)

A long overdue talk about Skincare

I haven’t updated this review in such a long time. Anyhow, I found this interesting product you all might love ~ it’s a skincare lotion without the fuss of additives and other fancy scents ; it uplifts your spirit through it’s simple moisturizing properties. *grin*  I think anyone who’s been searching for a long term skin-dryness solution — should definitely check it out.

Here are my words to the makers of Skin MD:)

I think your product is awesome. it really helps alleviate dryness especially when you spend a lot of time inside airconditioned rooms. Skin remains soft and supple, without the greasiness of other beauty products. I like it that it feels hydrated and I don’t have to reapply very often. Here in the Philippines we spend a lot of time inside airconditioned rooms, and it dries up the skin big - time! I love your product, and I love that it doesn’t have scents or any other additives.

Urban Romanticism

Hi there :) I’ve recently discovered this website called Polyvore, wherein you can mix and match outfits and do virtual shopping before the real hurdle. I tried it out, and I’m quite impressed at the features of this site! It sources out amazing bags, shoes, background images, accessories - anything and everything fashion related.

Been talking a lot about romanticism, and being a huge fan of this movement, I have created a romantic-inspired urban outfit, perfect for a sunny stroll outside the park :) I gave it some edge by pairing a romantic dress and soft ballerinas with a patent leather handbag and some beaded accessories from Topshop. Do try it out and lets see how it goes :D

The Great Singapore Sale

Hi there guys :)
I know this post is long overdue. Afterall, the great singapore sale has already started, and my oh my - there are so many things to marvel at while we’re in this topic. First off the bat, I found out that most stores are compelled to join the sale. Not joining the sale kills all the fun, and most store merchants don’t like that. Hehe :D

See. this is exactly how I felt. Marvelous. I get a high just by seeing display windows and seeing crowds queue up for their favorite clothing articles. Among the brands I’ve seen, M|phosis, Charles and Keith, Aldo and G2000 are the ones that made the most impression on me.

My taste for clothing has shifted dramatically, especially with the influence of the classics recurring these days. Audrey-Hepburn inspired styles flood the city streets, and I am so thrilled at the comeback. :)

I also find that I’m drawn to shorter heels nowadays (cause’ theres a ton of walking here in Sunny Singapore) so I’m flanked with alternatives like Kitten Heels, flat ballerinas and wedges - compromises to the sexy stillettos that I’ve been secretly covetting in my heart. haha.

Anyhow, thats all for now folks :) Will try to post again when I’m not too busy.

Gisele Bundchen makes everything look sexy.

This site is awesome.

Holland Village in Singapore

What a wonderful fashion / arts / food heaven!

After talking to a couple of friends about the infamous Holland Village, we decided to take a short field trip there one weekend. Look at the sights we’ve found!

(Frolick.. a yogurt place in holland village. pretty nifty taglines, yeah?)

——-
where: Holland Village, Singapore
how to get there: Bus number 7 from Dhoby Ghaut MRT.
why go there? To view hippies, to eat good food, have some coffee or check out that cheeky yogurt place.

Nice fashion stuff too :) Too bad taking photos is prohibited in most areas.

After A Long Hiatus, Lets talk about Acne

Whew. Seems like ages since I’ve last posted anything new.
I thought I wanted to abandon this blog already, but after hearing the warm comments, my heart started to melt.
THIS is aferall, what I love to think about during my spare time ( If i have any spare time, really. hehe.)

We had an interesting brain storming session for Tea Tree products and anti-acne products the other day. My friend took some photos in a Shopping mall in Singapore :

Hmm. I dunno if this is legal though, but thinking about it.. I’ve realized that there are very few items on display that I- personally - would like to use. Researching about it, I found out that Clean and Clear, Clearasil, and Oxy have very different takes on their product, and they market it quite differently too. ( Well. Hmm. It’s the same old ‘ benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid as well - right?)

Clean and Clear is geared more towards the teenage years, when breaking out is almost an unavoidable phenomena, while Clearasil pushes the limit a bit — by introducing some mild sexual innuendo and effects of “self confidence” in the YouTube videos that I’ve viewed. Oxy.. on the other hand, has no known campaigns all throughout the Asian market, BUT however, advertises heavily on the performance of their products. Which is why, perhaps, they come out with some masculine looking products to combat all signs of acne.

I’ve used Clean and Clear before, and I’m quite happy with it. However, I’ve never really encountered a “hard core” acne problem - - so I have no qualms, whatsoever. I’ve only battled my own struggles against freckles, but thankfully, not acne.

I also read a blog that 2.5% benzoyl peroxide works (even in abundant dozages!). This soft, mild version of benzoyl peroxide can be applied on blemishes, and, with a lot of product being absorbed on skin contact, the effectivity of it increases without too much drying often associated with the 5% - 10% dosages.

Tea tree sticks, especially the ones from The Body Shop - is also said to be effective. I just find it strange to apply the product coming from a lip-balm-like container -as opposed to the much efficient tube. It’s also worth the try anyway, and is proven to smell better than other anti acne cremes.

Awesome isn’t it? I hope my little trivia helps and inspires you all :)

What Make Up Pieces can’t you Live without?

I’ve always been asked by people, which pieces of make up I can’t live without - and an automatic response would be two (3) very important things. Foundation, Liquid eyeliner, and lip balm.

On Hair Color and My Long Term Hiatus

[face shop foundation, cherry lip balm from nivea, a little blush from covergirl]
Hi Boys and Girls. As you can probably gather, I haven’t been blogging lately since I’ve been so busy with design work… It’s so ridiculous at times, I’ve been so busy doing work, designing, on top of that, I’m also coordinating the company’s Christmas dinner event.. but don’t worry, even if I haven’t been blogging for some time now I still love fabulosity and wonderful fashion, beauty finds.

On to the topic of choice — Haircolor. I’ve gotten my hair colored several times over, and I’ve already masked it with black tint to hide the hideous blonde mistakes I’ve had in the past. After Perming it in a korean salon called “Style News” (located at Emerald Avenue, Ortigas, Pasig City) I’ve realized that it has transformed my hair color drastically.

Wonderful, nevertheless. At least now, I look sort of more foreign -than before. Hmm. I don’t know if that’s a good thing, but I love the color. I wonder if I should always get perms in order for it to stay this way. It’s a sheer subtlety of color that shines through especially when the sun hits your hair. Wonderful and very, very natural looking. ( If you want to know more about hair perming from Korean salons in the Philippines, you may check here for a link I read online. )

Hair Perming is indeed wonderful, especially for average sized women. I noticed that most skinny women look great with any of both - straight or curly hair - but for people like me who have meat in their bodies, the curls do give me that vibe with a little flair.

We love Cute things!

We have this fascination with all things that are cute. This is why I am so in love with a Bracelet sold on Etsy.com, totally hand made and one of a kind Pacman Bracelet. Brings back 80’s and 90’s memories, yeah?
